The city of Hamburg, guest-star of the European Mobility Expo

As the second largest city in Germany, Hamburg is “the largest logistics and transport hub in Northern Europe” according to EUMO Expo. With its 5.4 million inhabitants, the metropolis of Hamburg is a model for urban mobility. Ranked as the tenth most liveable city in the world by The Economist in 2017, the city is focusing on the development of “safe and diversified forms of mobility”. Between 2008 and 2017, the distance travelled by public transport was doubled by 68% and by bicycle by 55%. The European Mobility Expo will thus be an opportunity for the German city to present its innovative projects and solutions. In summary : presentation of its MaaS SWITCHH platform, its ioki/VHH electric shuttle system, the deployment of fully automated shuttles (HEAT) and the extension of its urban rail services by 2035 .

Highlights of EUMO Expo

During the European Mobility Expo one of the most anticipated events will be the “Smart Move Challenge”. Indeed, this competition with an international scope, gives the opportunity to several start-ups to present their projects. On the programme: Twenty start-ups in the running. Three categories of tools and services. A jury of professionals and major players in the field of mobility. At the end : Three winners, a €10,000 grant, a stand at the next exhibition, an acceleration program and a partnership. If you wish to participate, you have until 12 October. Do not hesitate to take a look at the page dedicated to the challenge.

Finally, it should be noted that eco-mobility will be highlighted with a 600m2 space exclusively dedicated to bicycles. With the current health crisis and the implementation of temporary bicycle paths in several cities around the world, this means of transport should be highly popular in the future. For this reason, the European Mobility Expo has decided to bring together the various players in the market. That is to say, manufacturers, equipment manufacturers, service providers, designers, street furniture companies, experts, associations…
